Poet Dr. Kang, Byeong-Cheol is a Korean author and poet, born in Jeju City, South Korea, in 1964. He began writing in 1993, publishing his first short story, โSong of Shuba,โ at the age of twenty-nine. He released a collection of short stories in 2005 and has since won four literature awards and published more than eight books. From 2009 to 2014, he served as a member of The Writers in Prison Committee (WiPC) of PEN International. Additionally, he worked as an editorial writer for NewJejuIlbo, a newspaper in Jeju City, Korea. He holds a PhD in Political Science and currently serves as the Vice President of The Korean Institute for Peace and Cooperation. Moreover, he holds the position of founding President of the Korean Association of World Literature.

Having flown around the world,
I am watching now, snow falling
on white birch forest in Poland
Every soul who leaves their home
will miss the land they used to roam.
I am missing only sunshine of Jeju city
There is nothing more precious present than sunshine
Sunshine of autumn of Jeju city is gorgeous
You’ll never know how much I love sunshine
Nothing can make me happy when skies are gray
I am longing for the sun while watching snow falling
on white birch forest in Poland
Snowflakes are falling steadily on snow-covered birch trees

You are the sea of โโmemories;
You are all words my life !
So, I draw on your chest;
The dream of life.

As much happiness in my life;
friend in your chest,
With the scratch of the pen;
Arrange in the flow of words.

Let’s hope so much friend;
My sadness is also a moment;
You are full of tears and pain ,
Hold on forever.

Softly fading, as lovers sigh.
Coconut palms stand guard with grace,
Shielding love’s haven, a sacred space.
Ocean breezes whisper low and sweet,
As tender touches hearts skip a beat.
Gentle waves caress the sandy shore,
A soothing serenade, evermore.
Eyes locked deeply, souls entwine,
Love’s pure magic, heartbeats align.
In paradise, love’s beauty shines,
Forever blooming, like tropical vines.
Together they stroll, hand in hand,
Love’s sweet paradise, their promised land.

Everyone indulges in pretension, but how many seek the truth?
When the outside world floats us, what happens inside ignites, aloof.
Before purifying the body, think for a moment, friend,
To purify the body’s ablution, the heart must first transcend.
We float in the river of life, where will it take us in the end?
The dust of the path stains the soul, in silence it does bend.
Truth is hidden from the eyes, shadows dwell in the mind,
If the heart breaks open, the divine path you’ll find.
Forget greed and desire, purify your heart,
Light the lamp of love within, let go of every chart.
On the path of Dharma, heed truth’s gentle call,
Cast aside falsehoods and build the elixir of all.
The fire of arrogance scorches, the play of the worldly body,
No oneโs thirst is ever quenched, in the flames of desire’s folly.
When night is still, listen to the soul’s quiet voice,
You and I are but travelers, follow the divine choice.
Purifying the body is not easy, the heart must first be clear,
Only when man becomes human, will the light appear.
Cover the truth with lies, but in the end, none endure,
Unite the inner and outer, this is the path thatโs sure.
Religion means purifying the heart, not a mere ritual’s show,
Peace blooms in the heart where love continues to flow.
Though darkness may overwhelm, let your soul’s light burn bright,
Open yourself to the Creator, and the way shall become right.
Quench your thirst with the waters of truth, cast away illusionโs bind,
In prayer, shape your life, and in light, you shall find.
This path is the direction to liberation, the nectar of the soul’s plan,
After pretension fades, only the truth will remain, unbroken, and grand.

Flatten the blue sky,
Flocks have flown in.
Those migrants from distant lands,
A new turn has been made.
The winter wind, the ice waves,
The soul wants to live.
A new place in a new land,
The song has begun.
Between water and rice fields,
They stay for days.
In the lap of green, lush soil,
They build debt.
When the time comes,
They will return from afar.
The call of migratory birds,
The path will be found.

The hardest Goodbyes are the ones unsaid,
A sudden soul departed cremated or in the grave,
A touch that lingers and memories that glows,
Like a stormy sea it ebbs and flows.
No words can give solace,
No tears bring back the dead,
No matter how much you try,
No matter how much you cry.
Memories which stay in the hearts forever,
Gifts recieved ,times spent together,
No matter how much you grieve or pray ,
A soul departed can’t be brought back even if how much you beg or say.
Hug your dear ones close,forgive if they do any wrong,
Life is a midsummer summer’s dream so sing your swan song.
How much you have gold or you have silver,
You can’t live forever,
Your wealth goes to someone else,
To live a great life is worth remembered,
Is the virtue of good humans.

I chant your name, O Lord,
If I make a mistake, forgive me.
In virtue, the book is empty, there are sins,
I have committed countless sins.
In the ocean of mercy, your mercy flows,
As long as I am a sinner, I am a traveler.
On the day of judgment, remove the dark night,
Those who have been destroyed by wrong gestures.
I meditate on your worship,
Be my help, O merciful giver, at all times.
Show me the direction of the path, O Great One,
I humble myself and abandon falsehood.
Those who have received mercy are fortunate,
This entire universe is your creation.

Time work that has to be done in time,
How many doubts and fears are there if done untimely.
If you can’t do it properly,
Don’t worry about tomorrow, think about today.
If the work of time is not done on time, it will fall behind.
Your responsibility and duty will be all mixed up.
Even if you do everything in time, you will not get such good results.
Whatever you hope to do will be in vain.
If the work is done on time, the work is done.
Success and prosperity will be yours.
No one will be, but you will be victorious in your work.
Your defeat will never come without victory.
A person who does not make use of time is a loss.
Success is yours if you work on time.
Leaving work is a sign of stupidity.
Food can never reap the benefits of work.
If you want success in life, work on time.
Start today instead of doing it tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
If you work, you will have some experience.
That experience will enhance your work skills.
So don’t be unemployed and get busy everyone.
To live beautifully, there is no other way without it.
There will be more or less mistakes while working.
You have to learn from mistakes and move forward.

A boundless hope, a curious mind.
The world is theirs to shape, to mold,
A future bright, a story bold.
With courage high, they fight, they rise,
A vision deep within their eyes.
The youth, a river, wide and free,
A force to change, a destiny.
For every dawn, a dream comes true,
The youth means always something new.

I was quiet, mind subsided
Though I jot down got
Perplexed, my calmness be
On thy bay, hey you, whom
I saw was a girl bold.
Told and my through got cold.
I saw a girl bold, onlooking
Me and my face was turned up,
I saw a girl bold, reflection her
On my cheat, I met her on
Hill high above when she was
Chasing her love one leaves among hill under foot in pure taste.
Morning, I was busy among
Tea leaves Garden in Assam.
I was in search of thought, came opened in quite as
I saw a girl was bold,
as she caught me
Hold, I was falling from an
Old rock, falling in her breast
Now I get that how soft was her strong hold, saved me falling from so called a dead clod.
And I remember that Assamese girl, was not bold
But soft in her though so cold.
I composed line in grief when
I found her in my though, I did
Not ask her name,
Happily she told.
Thus I name her “my bold “
Soft thought in a beautiful
Vally,was so quite, alone,
The girl is:still my own with
Her soft breast on my chest.
I saw that girl was bold
She was best
As she gave me a push on her
Breast was bold, be bold I am
To tell you, she slept and
I lost my chest.
Alas It were dream!
But not foretold.

I Dreamt last night’
I was by the sea side!
Playing on the sea wave’
A song straight from my heart.
The salty sea breeze,
Bring me the mood.
The heaving waves.
And framed the theme ,
I mixed the different’
Shades of feelings,
And painted the way!
The song ended,
The painting completed.
Yes, I confess!
Something was still incomplete,
Some one came along just then.
And put in the finishing touches!
A light stroke here and patch there.
The song in my heart.
Was captured and preserved.
On the canvas,
In the colours of love!
